Recent Wood Engraving – Gray Wagtail
Considerable time has passed since my last entry due to health issues.
This engraving was made a few months ago and is currently on show at the Scottish Ornithologists Club in Aberlady. SWE engravers were invited to submit work based on nature and inspired by a poem. I chose my favourite poet Norman McCaig and his poem about a gray wagtail. The background is Loch Ascog.
I used maple for this engraving for the first time and I found it difficult as the wood is so soft compared to lemonwood which I have become used to working.
